Porthminster Beach St Ives West Cornwall

The prospect of an off-season holiday can be very appealing. St Ives is now an all-year-around destination, meaning that you can enjoy pretty much everything that St Ives has to offer during the busy months.

Start looking at 3 or 5-day forecasts on Monday. The Met office is getting better at what they do! They say a 3-day forecast is now as accurate as a 2-day was 10 years ago.  Winter sunshine is just great on any coast, but with the topography of the little peninsular that makes up St Ives, you can enjoy the light anytime of day. Morning coffee at Porthminster or Porthgwidden, evening walk on Porthmeor. Beach walks at low-tide can be stunning. When there are spring tides, don’t forget you can walk from Porthminster , around the back of Smeaton’s Pier, past Bamaluz beach and onto Porthgwidden (if its a really big tide)

Once you’re happy with the weather, get on the phone to our office ( 01736-796 100) and have a chat with our team about winter short break deals . A weekend break of 4 days in a stunning cottage or apartment is great value when you compare to hotel and B&B prices in the town.

Choose a cottage with a woodburner or open fire, a good agent will supply logs, kindling etc, and hunker down for a cosy weekend. A ‘rum and shrub’ in the Sloop, a feast at the Sea-Food cafe, and in bed by 9pm !

You may be able to get a late check-out for your winter break, it’s always worth asking.
