Farmers Markets 04

St Ives is famous for its local food scene, with great eateries of all shapes and sizes to try. However, if you’re staying in one of our beautiful holiday properties, you’ll also be keen to stock up with Cornish delicacies to tuck into at home too!

Shopping locally is great for the environment and the community here in Cornwall, helping reduce food miles and supporting year-round employment. Plus, you get to enjoy great-tasting, nutritious food freshly plucked from land and sea.

So, instead of filling the fridge and cupboards of your St Ives holiday cottage with supermarket buys, head to one of these farm shops or farmers markets instead. They all come highly recommended by The Cottage Boutique team.

Farmers Market Multi

St Ives Farmers Market

Perfectly positioned for our holiday lets in Downalong and central St Ives, the town’s weekly Farmers Market takes places every Monday, 9.30am – 2pm at The Island Centre. Stalls are indoors, there’s plenty of space, and dogs are welcome. Stock up on harbour-fresh fish, seasonal veggies, local cheeses and delicious baked goods amongst other tasty foodstuffs.

You’ll also find a handful of arts and crafts stalls to complete the Cornish shopping experience!

Splattenridden

Splattenridden is just inland from Lelant and Hayle. Here you can buy fresh veggies grown on the farm, and other local products sourced from within a small radius of about 10 miles.

The quality of the produce is fantastic, and we love to go here and stock up on Cornish asparagus when it’s in season. Splattenridden milk is used to make Cathedral City Cheddar, and their potatoes are what makes Burts Crisps so moreish, so you know you’re definitely on to a good thing here!

Trink Dairy

Trink Dairy

This working dairy farm is a short drive into beautiful Cornish countryside from St Ives, Carbis Bay or Lelant. Visitors to Trink are welcome to enjoy the footpaths and see the process first hand in the milking parlour – the owners just ask that you stick to designated areas and paths and be extremely careful to clear up after your dog if you have one.

There’s a milk vending machine which takes contactless cards available 24/7. It also dispenses milkshakes 9am – 9pm. Glass bottles can be purchased, but you’re welcome to fill up any clean bottle to minimise waste. There’s also a small parlour shop where you can buy a few local goodies including other dairy products, eggs and sweet treats.

Trevaskis

A visit to Trevaskis near Hayle is a day out in itself. Fruit picking, farm trails, and a restaurant where they serve legendary cream cakes make this a popular destination for locals and visitors alike.

The farm shop is one of the largest around, with a large selection of fruit and vegetables and a bakery section, as well as a fishmongers and butchery counter. There’s plenty of indulgent treats too, from deli supplies to local chocolate, small batch ciders to Cornish wines.

Norway Stores

This brilliant neighbourhood stores in Downalong has sustained many of our cottage guests over the years! It’s packed with everything you could need during your stay – from essentials like bread and milk, to craft beer cans and Cornish ice cream.
