Schedule in some quality family time with a stay at one of our cosy cottages, stylish townhouses, or luxurious apartments, and make the most of the packed programme of activities happening locally.
From spooky storytelling to creepy crafts, we’ve rounded up our pick of the best days out below. We hope you’ll join us in Cornwall this coming half term to make some magical memories!
A day out in Truro
Family activities at the Royal Cornwall Museum and an autumn farmers market

Often overlooked by visitors, Truro is a great option for a day out this October half term. The Royal Cornwall Museum has loads of family activities running all week, including a paper plane challenge, RNLI-themed dressing up, and children’s theatre. Combine a spot of culture with a meander around the city’s farmers market, which takes place every Wednesday and Saturday.
If your little ones have longer attention spans, a visit to the beautiful cathedral is always inspiring, and there’s a good line-up of family-friendly shows at Hall For Cornwall over the holidays.
A trip to the Eden Project
Creepy crawly minibeasts and a slide around the ice rink

Explore the freaky and fascinating world of minibeasts at Eden Project this October half-term, with interactive shows from ZooLab. Tarantulas, here we come! There’s also a ‘mega-beast safari trail’ around the Rainforest Biome, and Eden’s ice rink will be up and running for its 2024/25 season. That’s all if you can tear your kids away from the epic outdoor play area…
Eden Project is just over an hours’ drive from St Ives, and many of our guests choose to combine a visit with their journey home.
Step back in time at historic Godolphin
Celebrate the apple harvest in seasonal splendour

The beautiful Godolphin Estate, a National Trust Property, has seen a fair few apple harvests in its time! Explore the history and folklore of the harvest and get hands-on with apple collecting and pressing in the Cider House.
There’s also seasonal crafts and mud-pie making to get stuck into, so bring a change of clothes! The estate is open 10am – 5pm throughout half term and all activities are included in the usual admission price (free if you’re a member).
Have a spooky seafaring adventure in Falmouth
Things are about to get spooky at National Maritime Museum Cornwall

Silhouettes and shadows are taking over National Maritime Museum Cornwall in Falmouth this half term – visit if you dare! Starbox Shadows and Wilderness Music will be putting on daily performances of Myths in the Mist, shadowy tales from the old Cornish coast, and there are ‘make and take’ activities to prolong the fun. There’s also a Halloween trail around the galleries.
If you fancy going all-out, there’s a Halloween takeover from 4pm on October 31st which promises tricks and treats along the way!
Go Rogue in the wild woods
Dance with friendly spirits young and old in a sparkly woodland settingĀ
Rogue Otherworld deliver spellbinding performances in Tehidy Woods near Hayle throughout the year, and this October half term is no exception. The Dead of Night Dance is billed as a woodland Halloween celebration with new stories and a host of otherworldly characters.
An enchanting trail through the woods leads to the (undercover) performance stage, where fortifying refreshments are sold during the show. We recommend sturdy footwear and at least one waterproof layer!
