Explore Porthmeor Beach

While it might still be a bit chilly for a swim, Porthmeor is world-renowned for its winter surf. Grab a coffee from the beach café and watch the pros tackle the Atlantic waves.

Stay Nearby: We have a beautiful selection of St Ives holiday cottages just steps away from the sand.

Visit Tate St Ives & Barbara Hepworth Museum

Art is the soul of this town. Spend a morning wandering through the Tate, then take a short walk to the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden to see how the early spring light hits the bronze artworks.

Rock Pooling at Bamaluz Beach

Tucked away between the harbor and Porthgwidden, Bamaluz is a hidden gem for families. It’s also one of our favorite spots for those staying in our dog friendly cottages in St Ives, as it remains dog-friendly all year round.

The Best Rainy Day Cafes in St Ives

A mizzle-day (misty-drizzle) in St Ives in February provides the perfect excuse to retreat into a cosy cafe. Here are our top picks for staying warm and dry this February half term in Cornwall:

Scoff Troff Cafe

Found in Market Place, this is a local favorite for families and four-legged friends alike. It is bright, quirky, and incredibly welcoming.

Why we love it: They serve legendary hot chocolates and hearty “Scoff Muffin” breakfasts that will keep you fueled for a day of exploring.

Porthmeor Beach Cafe (Heated Booths)

You don’t have to miss the sea views just because it’s raining. This cafe features glass-fronted, heated “pods” that allow you to watch the Atlantic swells while remaining perfectly toasty.

Why we love it: It’s arguably one of the best things to do in St Ives in February; sipping a flat white while storm-watching from a heated booth – yes please! – whilst their tapas-style lunch plates are a must-try.

The Yellow Canary Cafe

A St Ives staple on Fore Street, this cafe is the definition of “cosy.” It’s an ideal spot to duck into after browsing the local boutiques.

Why we love it: They partner with local roasters to provide some of the best coffee in town, and their window display of pastries is impossible to resist.

St Ives Brewery Cafe

Perched above the town, this spot offers a panoramic view of the harbor. It’s spacious, making it great for larger groups or families with pushchairs.

Why we love it: Whether you’re after a coffee in the morning or a craft beer in the afternoon, the view of the bay remains unbeatable, whatever the weather.
