The Count House

Sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms
£780 - £1,760pw

The Count House is a magnificent, unique Victorian House immersed in local art & history. It is within walking-distance from St Ives & its beautiful beaches, and very close to breath-taking stretches of the SW Coastal Path. Once owned by world-famous potter Bernard Leach, the house is light & surrounded by nature.

The Count House is the perfect holiday home for those wanting to enjoy an authentic Cornish escape. Its location is quiet but handy for shopping, going into town, enjoying the landscape and the beach. The house itself is a living timeline of the area’s history. Starting off as the “accounting” house of one of the region’s biggest mines, the Count House was then owned by Havelock Ellis, an English physician, intellectual and social reformer. Later, renowned potter Bernard Leach (guests must visit the Bernard Leach museum in town) bought the house living in it for more than a decade. Since, the house has been in the hands of local artists and art-lovers.

The Count house had such a lot of character it was a really unique and interesting place to stay. The walk to St Ives along the coastal path was lovely and the shower was nice and big with good pressure. Nice big garden with established plants and wildlife. Definitely worth a visit!

Thanks so much for a fantastic stay at the Count House. We’ve had a wonderful time and loved the property. Thanks also for enabling us to check in early on Monday - it made a huge difference and enabled us to enjoy an extra afternoon on the beach so thank you! We also loved all the delicious Cornish food treats and bottle of Rose. If we come back to Carbis Bay soon we’ll definitely get back in touch to rebook.
