The Count House
The Count House is a magnificent, unique Victorian House immersed in local art & history. It is within walking-distance from St Ives & its beautiful beaches, and very close to breath-taking stretches of the SW Coastal Path. Once owned by world-famous potter Bernard Leach, the house is light & surrounded by nature, has views of the astonishing St. Ives Bay
The Count House is the perfect holiday home for those wanting to enjoy an authentic Cornish escape. Its location is quiet but handy for shopping, going into town, enjoying the landscape and the beach. The house itself is a living timeline of the area’s history. Starting off as the “accounting” house of one of the region’s biggest mines, the Count House was then owned by Havelock Ellis, an English physician, intellectual and social reformer. Later, renowned potter Bernard Leach (guests must visit the Bernard Leach museum in town) bought the house living in it for more than a decade. Since, the house has been in the hands of local artists and art-lovers.
